Pediatric cancer survivor details her ordeal, hopes for the future

GRAND RAPIDS — When Meagan Denison, 19, walks into a cancer patient’s room at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital or Spectrum Health Butterworth, she brings much more than a food tray. [...] Today, the Petoskey native is the first pediatric ovarian cancer survivor in the state of Michigan, her doctors have told her family. Meagan is a second-year college student at Grand Rapids Community College, “free of tubes and pursuing a career in a field that I can help children with cancer,” she wrote in a letter to The Press, which invited readers to write about how experiencing cancer has enriched their lives.
