Learn how to store student performance results in the course Grade Center. Scores from assessments delivered through Blackboard are automatically recorded in the Grade Center. The Grade Center supports custom grading scales, grade weighting, item analysis, and multiple grade book views. With the instructor’s permission, students can view their own grades (but no one else’s) in the course Grade Center.

Blackboard is a web-based course management system that can be used in a variety of ways. Faculty can use the simple “point and click” tools to create an online course Web site that includes content delivery, grading, assessment, and communication.

Adjunct Faculty Award nominations accepted through April 26
The nomination process for the Adjunct Faculty Award is now open through April 26, 2012. The criteria for the Adjunct Faculty Award are based on GRCC’s Academic Standards, as adopted by AGC. To learn more about this opportunity, including accessing the nomination application, please go here.

The award includes a cash prize and figurine; it will be presented at the beginning of the Fall, 2012 semester. Please direct questions to Dr. Ric Underhile, runderhile@grcc.edu.

Applications now open for Great Teachers Seminar 2012
GRCC and Ferris State University jointly sponsor this 2 1/2-day annual retreat celebrating good teaching surrounded by the beauty of Michillinda Lodge in Whitehall. The Seminar includes single room and meals, beginning with dinner on Monday, June 25 and ending with lunch on Wednesday, June 27. GRCC underwrites the cost; you must be willing to attend overnight and for the entire seminar. Enrollment is limited to nine participants from GRCC who will be selected by the GTS Planning Team to ensure the diversity that makes this such a rich experience. One longevity training credit is available to full-time faculty who participate. Graduate credit available through Ferris State University. Participation is limited to full- or part-time faculty from GRCC or FSU.
