Adjunct Communications Professor Laura Michels had her class following Vice President Joe Biden’s live tweet interview follow-up to the State of the Union Address earlier this week.  The class tweeted questions to the VP and he responded to one of the students!

• 2011 W-2’s will be available for pick up starting Thursday, January 26th through Monday, January 30th at the DeVos Campus Administration building in the 1st floor lobby.
• You will be required to show valid picture ID, which indicates your first and last name information.
• W-2’s will only be released to the employee. You will not be able to pick up W2’s for friends, spouses, etc.
• W-2’s that are not picked up by Monday, January 30th at 5:00 PM will be mailed on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 to the address on file for the employee.
• Lost, misplaced, destroyed, or W2’s mailed to an incorrect address will not be replaced until after March 1, 2012.
• There is a $10.00 service charge for any W-2 replacement copy requested.

Second, the Milo Brown Scholarship which is awarded to one African American male student who has at least a 2.75 GPA and has demonstrated a commitment to the community by engaging in volunteer and extra curricular activities.

Those who attended the “Donuts and Bagels” session this month were invited to bring their iPads. DLIT learned that faculty and staff (including some who couldn’t make it) have a real interest in using tablets for teaching and learning. One day later, we got to see the Apple Education Event. They announced:

• iBooks Author
• A New iTunes U

HOLLAND — With Holland manufacturing worker Bryan Ritterby sitting as a guest of the First Family at the State of the Union tonight, the wind technologies company he works for, Energetx Composites, is enjoying some national spotlight on their operations. Harper College drops football: Community college sets refreshing example on sports’ proper place

I’ve driven past the football field at Harper College a million times, but somehow it never quite registered that the field belonged to a team. It does — or at least, it did. [...] Two schools in its conference, Joliet Junior College and Grand Rapids Community College, had just shed their squads, prompting Harper officials to rethink whether it still made sense to offer the sport.  (More)
