Hispanic Excellence Scholarship Gala (10/8)

The Committee to Honor Cesar E. Chavez invites employees to attend the 2009 Hispanic Excellence Scholarship Gala which will feature Latin culinary delights, live entertainment and Latin artwork.  The event takes place on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 5 p.m. in Wisner-Botrall Applied Technology Center.

One of the goals of the event is to advance the educational goals of Hispanic students pursuing a college education by raising $100,000 to award ten $1,000 scholarships.  This year the Committee will award six $1,000 scholarships and present the GRCC Foundation with a check toward the scholarship endowment fund.

Tickets are $50 before October 8 and $60 at the door.  To purchase tickets contact Jennifer Smith at 234-3056.

Kent City student seamstress wins fashion award

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) – A 17 year old Grand Rapids Community College student has a dream: to someday be a famous fashion designer.
