GRCC runs wild en route to 5-0 start

GRAND RAPIDS — No one in Grand Rapids Community College’s athletic department knows if the Raiders’ 77-56 win Saturday against Ellsworth Community College (Iowa) is the most points scored in a game in school history. Meanwhile, the National Junior College Athletic Association is combing through its archives to find out if the 133 combined points is a national record.  (More)

Zombies will roam GR again: 2009 Zombie Walk on October 30

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) – Zombies will once again roam the streets of downtown Grand Rapids the night before Halloween. GRCC student/social networker Rob Bliss staged the first event in 2008, and this time he’s hoping to recapture the record for World’s Largest Zombie Walk from Seattle.  (More)

Local artist enters ArtPrize

Over the last few weeks we’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about ArtPrize, billed as part arts festival, part social experiment. It’s giving away the world’s largest art prize-$250,000-and a 1995 Cedar Springs High School grad has the chance to win it. [Lisa Spielmaker] earned a degree in 1998 from Grand Rapids Community College, where she focused on art and art history. Two of her pieces are still in GRCC’s collection. (More)
