The third biennial “Nations Cup” international culinary student competition is currently underway in the kitchens of the ATC.  Teams from the USA, Barbados, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Scotland are vying for top honors in a “mystery box” competition (not unlike the TV show “Iron Chef”) where they must craft dishes without advance knowledge of the ingredients they’ll be working with.  The event is a superb opportunity to polish not only the students’ skills in the kitchen, but their international accumen and ability to work as a team. “Serving Our Community” Charity Recipe Book Tasting and Sale

As part of the annual GRCC United Way Campaign, a cookbook of recipes submitted by employees was put together over the summer.  On Tuesday November 3, 2009 from noon to 1 p.m. in 351 Main, all are invited to try the book before buying it by tasting recipes from “Serving Our Community” GRCC Faculty and Staff Cookbook.  Several of the recipe contributors will be preparing dishes they submitted to the book.

To participate in the sampling extravaganza there is a $2 charge which will go toward the purchase of a cookbook. Cookbooks will be available for sale at $10 each.  Questions should be directed to Angela Zainea (#3420) or Liz Timmer (#3490).

$1,500 Challenge Winners

GRCC Receives Corporate ONE Award

Danelle Sedore Accepting MMBDC Corporate ONE AwardThe Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMSDC) presented GRCC with the Corporate ONE Award,  which was accepted on behalf of the Supplier Diversity Team by co-chair Danelle Sedore in the Graphic Design and Printing Services department.

The Corporate ONE Award honors institutions who participate fully as members of a Project ONE module, report minority spending to MMSDC, have an established Supplier Diversity Program, and who have sponsored an exhibit at the MMPC Trade Fair or other major MMBDC event in the past year.
