Kirtland Community College suffers through rough basketball doubleheader

The Kirtland Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams both suffered setbacks to Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan Community College Athletic Association action. The Kirtland women’s squad dropped an 84-47 decision, their fourth setback in four games this season. The Firebirds were led by Teri Taylor (Clare) with 13 points and nine rebounds, Aranda Bushre (Coleman) with eight points and Katie Shea (Clare) with seven.  (More)

Can college students learn as much from an online class?

Will online classes play a bigger role in colleges of the future? Some higher education leaders I met Friday think so. I’m attending an education writers conference in Chicago this weekend, looking at the future of higher education. […] The private, non-profit college was founded by 19 governors a dozen years ago, and has students from all 50 states. Enrollment grew by 35 percent last year, and now it tops 17,000 students – about the same number that attend Grand Rapids Community College.  (More)
