Safezone Training Offered (12/14/09)

The SafeZone program is a diversity education program that is tailored to the higher education environment.  The workshop incorporates real life scenarios and practical information to foster an atmosphere of understanding and inclusion.  The program philosophy provides not only a safe space for all people, but also increases communication and understanding among people. One of the goals of SafeZone is to emphasize that all individuals will be treated and respected as human beings leading to a productive, safe and supportive campus within which students and staff may flourish.  The next session will be held on Monday, December 14, 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (breakfast & lunch provided).  Register at dlcregistration@grcc.edu.

Improved Spirit Award

*Link to Nomination Form Added Below

As part of College Action Project 3.3.1 , a cross college group of employees has reviewed our current Rewards & Recognition Programs.  This review included the Raider Spirit Award.  Based on input from employees and this group, the name has been changed to the GRCC Spirit Award changes have been made to the program.

  • In order to be eligible, one must now have worked at GRCC for a minimum of 6 months.
  • In the absence of monthly “all employee meetings” and in light of feedback received from employees stating they prefer recognition from their peers and supervisor, the GRCC Spirit Award will be presented monthly by a recipient’s supervisor at a time to be determined by the department.
  • The exception to this would be when the award is presented at the Holiday Breakfast and the End of the Year Recognition Reception.  Presenting at these two times would give the program public exposure.
  • The nomination process will continue to be coordinated through the Learning Academy for Faculty & Staff.
  • Once a recipient is determined, the supervisor will be contacted by     the Learning Academy and arrangements made for the presentation.
  • Recipients will continue to receive a Fedora, a framed proclamation, travel mug, Heritage gift certificates and movie passes.  In addition to these gifts, a donation in the name of the recipient, to a scholarship of the recipient’s choice, in the amount of $150, will be made by Organizational Development and the Learning Academy.
