Funeral Information and Obituaries for Judy Bowne

As you are aware, Associate Vice President for College Advancement / Foundation Executive Director Andy Bowne suffered the loss of his mother recently.  Visitations will be held on Friday, February 12, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at Lake Funeral Home, 3521 S. State Road, Ionia, MI 48846 (616) 527-0099.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 13, at 11:00 am at Galilee Baptist Church, 291 Orchard Street, Saranac, MI 48881 (616) 642-9174.

Judith Ann Bowne, age 69, was united with her Lord and Savior on February 10, 2010.  Her acceptance of Christ in her forties provides strength and comfort to her family and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Putt.  She is survived by her husband of almost fifty years (Bill); her four children, Andy (Ruth) Bowne, Jason (Debbie) Bowne, Becky (Troy) Hoople, and Josh (Michelle) Bowne; and her eight grandchildren, Michael Bowne, Elizabeth Bowne, Daniel Fahey, Jessica Fahey, Jill Fahey, Jaycob Lewis, Gavin Hoople, and Adelaide Bowne.  She is also survived by her sister Janet MacKinnon and her cousin Robert (Julia) Sherwood.

Judy loved spending time on the shores of Lake Michigan near the town of Glenn.  She enjoyed many years of walking, running, doing crossword puzzles, bird watching, travelling in their RV, and being involved in her church (Calvary Chapel Sunset Coast in Benton Harbor).

Having returned to college later in life, she completed an Associate’s degree from Montcalm Community College, a Bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University, and a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University.  Prior to her retirement from the Ionia Public Schools, Judy taught in an elementary EI classroom and middle school Resource Room.

Memorial gifts can be made to Gideon’s International, Gospel for Asia, and Special Olympics (Area 11).
