Flower Power Day at GRCC

Wednesday was Flower Power Day at GRCC.  Members of the Personal Enrichment Team delivered carnations around campus to employees.  The folks in the Learning Resource Center were glad for the “pick me up”.  They are Toy McNeal, Pat Ingersoll, Kathy Schoen, and Raju Hegde.

GRCC Alum Publishes Book on Weight Loss

703: How I Lost More Than a Quarter Ton and Gained a LifeGRCC Alumna Nancy Makin (one of the first students to graduate from the Culinary Arts program) has a book that will be released for sale on April 15th.  Titled “703: How I Lost More Than a Quarter Ton and Gained a Life,” it tells her personal story of triumph and weight loss.  Makin appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show in 2007 to tell her story.  An interesting fact about her weight loss is that it was accomplished with the help of a computer bought by her sister at one of GRCC’s public sales.

GRCC enrollment at all-time high – Winter term has about 17K students

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Enrollment at Grand Rapids Community College is higher than ever, and it could be due to the economy.  GRCC’s winter term has seen the largest number of students ever enrolled at the school with 17,258. That number is up by 2,084 students from one year ago.   (More)
