Service Learning Award Nominations Due 3/31/10

The Academic Service Learning Center is looking for nominations for outstanding student organizations/clubs and outstanding academic service learning students. Nominations for  the “Be the Change” and “Heather Scott Service Learning” awards are due by Wednesday, March 31.

Instructions:

• Any full-time or adjunct GRCC faculty member may nominate a qualified GRCC student for the award
• Use one Nomination Form for each nominee
• Submit the Nomination Form to the ASLC by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Hard copies will be accepted at the ASLC (Main, G2, Room 59) or you can e-mail the form and letter to Lizz Kelly, ekelly@grcc.edu.

Heather Scott Academic Service-Learning Award

Given in memory of Heather Scott, a GRCC student who was active in multiple curricular academic service learning experiences during her attendance at the college.   The award recognizes significant contribution to the community and academic learning through academic service-learning courses.

Criteria for the Award.  Candidates must:

• Be a current GRCC student
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50
• Have participated in at least one academic service-learning course while a student at GRCC
• Shown a significant contribution to the community and to his/her own learning through the academic service-learning experience

Award:

• $100 Honorarium
• Certificate of Award
• Name engraved on a perpetual plaque to be displayed in the Academic Service-Learning Center
• Award is given at the Student Leadership Program on Friday, April 23, 2009, 6pm, Ford Fieldhouse

Be The Change Student Organization Service Award

Criteria for the Award.  Candidates must:

• Be a current GRCC Student Organization
• Be in good standing
• Display leadership by participating in or organizing community outreach both on and off campus
• Made a significant contribution to the community

Award:

• Certificate of Award
• Name engraved on a perpetual plaque to be displayed in the Academic Service-Learning Center
• Award is given at the Student Leadership Program on Friday, April 23, 2009, 6pm, Ford Fieldhouse
