GRCC’s Dr. Ender to Appear on Rapid Growth Speakers Panel (4/6/10)

Rapid Growth Media has organized the “Not Your Average Speaker Series” which will feature an upcoming panel discussion “Higher Ed, Stronger Economy” on April 6th, 2010, at Wealthy Theatre from 5:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.  From the description of the program:

Grand Rapids not a college town? Young people fleeing West Michigan? Think again. Just in downtown Grand Rapids alone, tens of thousands of students attend classes at 7 higher education institutions on 6 separate campuses (soon to be 7), much of which has been added in just the last 10 years. How much since 2000? $510 Million in infrastructure, over 12,000 new students, not to mention $Tens of Millions in private spinoff development. And not to mention 5 of those schools have experienced over 40% growth in those ten years!  Hear from the people who help run these institutions, the school’s role in downtown revitalization, their economic impact on West Michigan, and what plans they have for the near future for even MORE investments:

The panel will feature:

  • Dr. Steven Ender, President of Grand Rapids Community College
  • Dr. Oliver Evans, President of Kendall College of Art and Design
  • Matt McLogan, Vice President of Community Relations, Grand Valley State University
  • Nelson Miller, Associate Dean, Grand Rapids Campus, Cooley Law School
  • Jerry Kooiman, Assistant Dean for External Relations, MSU – College of Human Medicine

Admission, beverages and concessions are free. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. for pre-event networking.  Event is sponsored by Michigan State Housing Development Authority.  For more information, visit the Facebook event page or contact  Jeff Hill at jeff@rapidgrowthmedia.com
