GRCC offers first U.S. wind energy safety training program

Holland, MI – Grand Rapids Community College says its Grand Rapids and Holland campuses will become the first U.S. sites to offer a globally-recognized safety certification program for the wind energy industry. The YES Safety Technology, or YST, safety certification program trains students to safely work in the tight spaces and extreme heights of on- and off-shore wind turbines, officials said. The school Tuesday signed a license agreement with the Spain- and United Kingdom-based firms that coordinate the program. (More)

GRAND RAPIDS — Grand Rapids Community College students will be qualified to work on wind turbines anywhere in the world after completing an international safety course, say leaders from two European companies.
