Video: Dr. George Pommer – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Can’t We Just Give ‘Em A “Chill Pill?”

Courtesy of GRCC’s Media Technologies department, we have the final presentation on the Psychology Department’s Speakers Series.  Dr. George Pommer presents on the subject of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, providing an overview on the current trends and controversies in the diagnosis, misdiagnosis, associated conditions (depression, anxiety, learning disabilities, etc.) and treatment of this psychological disorder.

GRCC Student Jessica Hajost Takes 1st Place in Regional Biz Plan Competition

Last night at the West Michigan Regional Business Plan Competition, GRCC student Jessica Hajost took top honors.  Hajost competed  against student teams from GVSU, Hope, Calvin, Aquinas, Cornerstone, and Davenport and won a cash award of $3,000, as well as membership in the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce and a variety of other in-kind prizes.

It’s worth noting that this is the first year that GRCC’s Business Department held a business plan competition (which Hajost won to advance to the regional competition).  To watch the GRCC business plan competition (held 3/31/10) – watch the video below:

Cinco de Mayo Celebration Scholarship Fundraiser

The Committee to Honor Cesar E. Chavez & El Sombrero Restaurant invite you to enjoy great Mexican food and live music at their annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration at El Sombrero Restaurant (527 Bridge St. – GR, MI 49504) Wednesday, May 5, 2010 – 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Tickets are $10 each and all proceeds will support student scholarships at GRCC.
