Excellence in Education Award Nominations Due 5/14/10

The deadline for submitting Excellence in Education nominations is fast approaching.  Submit your Faculty nominations to Debbie Dewent (Provost’s Office — 1 Main); Submit your Staff nominations to Liz Timmer (418 College Park Plaza).  All nominations are due by Noon on Friday, May 14, 2010.

Riverbank Run: Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer

GRCC will be well represented this weekend during the 5/3rd Riverbank Run. If you have the opportunity, please cheer on your GRCC colleagues (the Post-Race Party is Saturday, May 8, 8:00 am – 1:30 pm Calder Plaza, downtown). Runners from GRCC include Mary Reed, Sue Hill, Steve Ender, Jim Fox, Mike Schavey, Andy Bowne, and Ric Underhile.

Ric Underhile is running as part of the fund-raising group for Gilda’s Club, an alliance of clubhouses where adults and children living with cancer, as well as their loved-ones, meet to learn how to live with cancer. Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer (www.grcc.edu/runwalkrollcheer) is a wellness program at GRCC that encourages the participation of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and retirees in all aspects of community fitness events, including a) running, rolling, or walking in local events, b) joining local groups that support running, rolling, or walking, c) playing a supportive role in events (e.g., working at an aid station), and/or d) turning out to cheer on GRCC colleagues.

Five years, four colleges, two sports equal wild ride for Freedom Baptist grad Adam Slusher

It has been a strange collegiate athletics trip for Adam Slusher. The former Freedom Baptist baseball standout experienced a five-year journey that took him to four colleges before ending at a Division III school in eastern Pennsylvania. Muskegon Community College softball team splits doubleheader with Grand Rapids Community College

MUSKEGON CC 3-3, GRAND RAPIDS CC 0-4: Ashley White won her 28th game of the season, pitching a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Ashley Melchert had a two-run single in the first inning and Olivia Morey drove in Abbey Collinge in the second. Collinge finished with three hits and Nicole Suchy had two hits for MCC.  (More)
