GRCC trustees raise tuition

Grand Rapids, MI — The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees voted to raise tuition for the fall semester. The following increases were approved: * Resident tuition will go from $84.50 to $89.50 per contact hour * Non-resident tuition will go from $181.00 to $196.00 per contact hour * Out-of-state tuition will go from $268.00 to $293.00 per contact hour About 900 Holland-area students attend GRCC classes at the non-resident tuition rate.  (More)

Grand Rapids Community College golfer Alex Fleming climbs seven spots at NJCAA tourney

PHOENIX — Grand Rapids Community College freshman Alex Fleming shot a 1-over-par 73 on Wednesday and moved up seven spots to 21st in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II tournament at Palm Valley Golf Course. Fleming (Hudsonville), who was tied for 28th after the opening round, has a two-day total 147 midway through the 72-hole event that runs through Friday. He is nine strokes off leader Ryan Mahoney of Mesa (Ariz.) CC, who is at 138.  (More)

Anderson senior RB commits

Anderson senior RB Kyle Slater has committed to Grand Rapids Community College, according to Anderson’s athletic department. Slater, an Enquirer Division I first-team all-area selection, had 1,243 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns last season. He had five receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown. He was second-team all-state.  (More)

Grand Rapids Community College training at Energetx leads to alternative energy jobs

HOLLAND — Spending $1,750 of his savings on four weeks of training was a gamble for Bryan Ritterby, who hasn’t worked since he was laid off by a local office furniture-maker 14 months ago. That investment in new skills paid off for the 56-year-old Holland man. Within a month of completing the Grand Rapids Community College training, Ritterby had a full-time job with Holland-based Energetx Composites.  (More)
