Column: When it comes to Michigan, more smartphone apps are needed

What’s on your phone? Do a search for “Michigan” in the iTunes Apps Store and you get a results page listing about 150 apps. But in that list are a lot of repeats and apps pretending to be Michigan-focused. Go to the Android Market and you see many of the same choices. Plug in the same search in the Blackberry App World site and the choices are pathetic. […] I did find basic apps for Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Valley State University and Central Michigan University. But where was Western Michigan University? Kalamazoo College?  (More)

Sidewalk chalk event draws hundreds – Kendall College sponsored event

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Hundreds came downtown Grand Rapids on Sunday to share sidewalk chalk art. The public event was organized by Rob Bliss and sponsored by Kendall College of Art and Design. Most came out to draw, a few came to watch and everyone agreed: it’s a fun event you would find only in Grand Rapids. Bliss is a WOOD TV employee, but the station has no affiliation with his public events.  (More)
