GRCC will help create 70 jobs with Trans-Matic

Holland, MI — The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees recently approved a partnership with Holland’s Trans-Matic to provide training for more than 70 new jobs. The training is funded through the Michigan New Jobs Training Program. Trans-Matic pay GRCC for the training and be re-imbursed with set-aside income taxes collected by the state from the new employees. GRCC had previously approved three similar partnerships with Haworth, Johnson Controls-Saft and Energetx. In total 663 new Michigan jobs are expected as a result of the programs.  (More)

GRAND RAPIDS — At a time when many athletes have to pay to play, Grand Rapids Community College football coach Tony Annese is serving up some free instruction. Condolences to the Family of Albert Smith

Albert Smith, a former GRJC faculty member who contributed 35 years to the college passed away recently.  Albert was the winner of the first Arts Award in Grand Rapids among his many other accolades.   Funeral Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at LaGrave Ave. Christian Reformed Church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Community College Foundation for Albert Smith Scholarship or La Grave Ave. Music Program.  For the full obituary, click here.

Woodrick Diversity Learning Center Honored by Corp! Magazine

The Woodrick Diversity Learning Center has been selected as one of the honorees for the “Michigan’s Salute to Diversity” awards on behalf of Corp! Magazine. The DLC was nominated by Monica Allen from GVSU. Monica is one of the facilitators for the DLC who has been involved in some of our youth trainings.  [To Read the Letter, Click Here]
