Last Friday, Chef Gilles Renusson and students from GRCC’s Baking and Pastry Arts classes worked with dozens of volunteers in an attempt to break the world’s record for pulling sugar. The purple sugar ribbon (intended to remind people of the Van Andel Institute’s “Community for a Cure” effort) stretched an impressive 260 feet, but fell short of the record. Preparations are already being made to attempt the record again next year.
