That elephant in the living room is ArtPrize. It obscures just about everything for the next few weeks, though I managed to sift out plenty of live music gems for the Weekend List… […] Under-the-radar pick: American finger-style acoustic guitarist Preston Reed has been described as one of the world’s most gifted guitarists who puts on a dazzling one-man show with his polyrhythmic percussion work and more. At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, he plays the Grand Rapids Community College‘s International Guitar Series in Room 200 of the college’s music center at the corner of Lyon Street and Ransom Avenue. Admission is $10 ($7 for students and seniors). Call 234-3940. And to prove the point, check out this video of an eye-popping Reed performance:  (More)
