Academic Service Learning Open House (10/1/10)
On behalf of the Academic Service Learning Center we would like to welcome everyone to our Annual Open House. Food and mingling with community partners, students, and faculty will take place at the Applied Technology Center Room 124 from 12:00-1:00 on Friday October 1st. Come express your passion for service!

Volunteers Needed for 4th Annual GRCC Foundation Fundraiser
Are you available during the evening of Tuesday, October 12 from 5-9pm? Would you like to assist in making this years Annual Foundation Fundraiser another success? Yes? Then volunteer! What we need:
- Parking Help
- Greeters
- Coat Check
- Registration
All volunteer positions will be assigned. That evening, food will be provided to all volunteers in the volunteer break room. We need at least 15 dedicated volunteers. Contact Erin Cisler at 3931 or ecisler@grcc.edu to sign up.
Kudos to Angela Zainea in Representing GRCC at GRAHEN
Angela Zainea (Admissions) has been reelected for a second term as president of Grand Rapids Area Higher Education Network (GRAHEN). GRAHEN is a consortium of 13 local colleges and universities who come together to promote higher education and learning opportunities in our West Michigan Community. GRAHEN organizes education fairs at local businesses as a convenient way for employers to showcase all the local educational opportunities available to their employees. GRAHEN also hosts the annual Outstanding Adult Learner award reception and banquet which recognizes and honors an extraordinary non-traditional student from each GRAHEN member institution.

Tuesday, October 5 9:30-11:30 a.m. in Room 118 ATC - Rules 13-25 will be discussed on:
Wednesday, October 13 1:30-3:30 p.m. in Room 118 ATC
Thursday, October 14 10 a.m. – noon in Room 122 ATC
Pre-registration is not needed. There will, however, be a sign in sheet for employees to assure participation is recorded on individual Professional Development Reports. If you have not received a copy of Choosing Civility, Faculty should contact the Center for Teaching Excellence with Staff contacting Employee Professional Development & Enrichment.

It obscures just about everything for the next few weeks, though I managed to sift out plenty of live music gems for the Weekend List… […] Under-the-radar pick: American finger-style acoustic guitarist Preston Reed has been described as one of the world’s most gifted guitarists who puts on a dazzling one-man show with his polyrhythmic percussion work and more. At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, he plays the Grand Rapids Community College‘s International Guitar Series in Room 200 of the college’s music center at the corner of Lyon Street and Ransom Avenue.
