GRAND RAPIDS — Will Cronin says anyone who has ever taken a train from one city to another recognizes the convenience and value of passenger rail. “We have got to get people off the expressways,” the Grand Rapids man told a group gathered Thursday to discuss the future of the state’s rail system. GRCC’s Aronde Stanton honored as national defensive player of the week

Grand Rapids Community College defensive end Aronde Stanton was recently selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Defensive Player of the Week. Stanton, a 6-foot-1, 265-pound sophomore from Martin Luther King High School, had two defensive touchdowns in last week’s 65-9 win against Joliet Junior College. (More)

Dr. Terri Manning, associate vice president of institutional research, from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC and Dr. Alice Villadsen, retired President of Brookhaven College in the Dallas Community College System have spent the past two days meeting with a variety of GRCC faculty groups as part of GRCC’s participation in the Achieving the Dream initiative. Free Blood Pressure Screening (10/18)
When is the last time you had your blood pressure checked? Have you been told you are hypertensive? Hypertension is known as the silent killer because it is deadly and has no early significant symptoms. The WE team, along with GRCC nursing students, is offering blood pressure screening at several dates/times throughout the month of October. The first date is Monday, October 18 at the following locations and times:

United Way Chili Cook-off (10/19)
