GRCC volleyball team wins program’s first MCCAA title by avenging loss to Muskegon CC

The Grand Rapids Community College volleyball team got retribution Saturday at the Michigan Community College Athletic Association tournament.  The Raiders also got something that had eluded them in past years.  GRCC (29-2) won the program’s first MCCAA championship with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 25-13) win over Muskegon Community College in the championship match at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.  (More)

Muskegon Community College bows out in finals of MCCAA volleyball state tournament

Muskegon Community College hoped to capture the school’s first state volleyball championship, but the Jayhawks fell Saturday to seventh-ranked Grand Rapids Community College 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, and 25-13.  “They are tall and fast and they did things right all day,” MCC coach Ed Bailey said about GRCC. “They are the best ranked team we’ve seen all season.”  (More)

GRAND RAPIDS — The Grand Rapids Community College football team put a 56-point drubbing on Joliet Junior College this month.  Saturday’s rematch at Houseman Field was much different, and it nearly ended in a crushing defeat for the fifth-ranked team in National Junior College Athletic Association Division II.  (More)

Teaching Children to Read

To promote reading in children, a special group from the Grand Rapids Community College  put together a package of delightful products to present to children. The packet included a Gingerbread story book, a packet of ingredients with cookie cutter to make cookies and a Burton and Burton Gingerbread apron.  (More)
