GRCC’s Campus Activities has signed up to be a donation site this year for the Angel Tree Toy Drive. Beginning November 12th, please stop by Student Life to choose an Angel Tree tag, purchase a gift in accordance with the tag (gender and age) and bring the unwrapped toy back to Student Life with the tag securely fastened to the gift (feel free to add a personal note if you would like). Toys will be distributed to children throughout West Michigan this holiday season. This year, the Angel Tree Toy Drive is hoping to collect toys that will be given to 30,000 children.
The Midwest Institute will receive funding from the Dept. of Education to organize several summer workshops in 2011 thru 1014. specifically, the 2011 workshops well be: Africa; Latin America; Global Values, responsibility and leadership; and Global Interactions and Exchanges. the workshops will b offered in Kalamazoo for the purpose of providing information and resources to faculty for the development of curriculum modules on various aspects or issues relating to one of the weekly workshops. For each workshop, 15 faculty will be selected on a “FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVE” basis. Each faculty will receive a $1000 stipend for his/her participation and the development of a curriculum module to be infused into at least one course he/she will be teaching.

GRAND RAPIDS – Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) students will now be able to obtain an Associates in Architectural Design and then transfer to complete a BS in Architecture thanks to a new partnership to be announced Nov. 2 at a presentation at GRCC.

The federal government has been growing, and a number of agencies want college students to know about potential careers in public service. Grand Rapids Community College and Ferris State University are teaming up for a federal career day from 1 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the GRCC Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center, 151 Fountain Street SE. [NOTE CORRECTIONS] The top candidates for the Executive Director of Communications position will be making 15-20 minute presentations covering their vision and strategy for the communications, marketing, public relations, and web/social media unit and its function at GRCC. The WE Team is hosting the Annual GRCC Employee Holiday Movie Event on Saturday, November 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Celebration Cinema in Rivertown Crossings Mall in Grandville. The movie this year is Tangled.
