The Davenport University women’s junior varsity basketball team routed host Grand Rapids Community College, 81-45, on Wednesday. Taylor Nauta led Davenport with 18 points, and Kelsie Benike had 13. The Panthers outrebounded GRCC 66-37 and led 40-23 at halftime. (More)

GRAND RAPIDS – Brian Saladino had a dream. Actually, it was more of a nightmare: He was literally flying through a movie theater on opening night of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.” A bomb went off, blowing him far, far away from the still-intact building. And everyone else waiting to see the most-anticipated movie of 2010 got to see it, except him. It’s the kind of dream that’ll cause cold sweats for a diehard “Harry Potter” fan. Saladino, an 18-year-old Grand Rapids Community College student, shared his nightmare story while parked first in line to see “Deathly Hallows” on IMAX at midnight Thursday at Celebration Cinema North.
