Ron Van Timmeren will pass on the popcorn. Permanently. Yes, the man who works for Loeks Theatres/Celebration Cinema, a company that sells bucket upon bucket of the stuff, and who is recognized by many as one of Grand Rapids’ movie experts – well, he never eats it. […] That drive translates to his professional success as well. He started working for Loeks Theatres in 1976 in the marketing department after answering an ad on a 3-by-5-inch card in the Grand Rapids Junior College placement office. He was between his junior and senior years at college, where he studied marketing; he attended GRJC (now Grand Rapids Community College) and Michigan State University, eventually finishing his degree at Grand Valley State University.  (More)

Grand Valley State University show will benefit Circle Theatre, GRCC Alumni Relations

GRAND RAPIDS – Darion Murchison will close 2010 the way he lived it – singing his heart out. The Grand Valley State University senior will present a holiday cabaret as part of “A Cool Yule,” a benefit performance for Circle Theatre and Grand Rapids Community College Alumni Relations. Murchison appeared in two Circle Theatre productions this year and was a member of the theater’s “Men of Motown” cabaret.  (More)

STANTON – Two men have been added and two men have been promoted in the ranks of the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office staff. A special badge ceremony took place Thursday in the basement of the sheriff’s office. The intimate event was attended by family members and law enforcement personnel.
