Photos: Congratulations to Melanie Forbes – Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award Winner

The first annual Excellence in Teaching by Adjunct Faculty Award was presented last night, Tuesday, January 4, to Melanie Forbes of the Mathematics Department at a dinner held for Adjunct Faculty.  Melanie has taught at GRCC since 1999.  To quote from her nomination:

Melanie has worked in our department for many years and has always demonstrated her strong commitment to student learning.  She consistently goes beyond her normal teaching responsibilities — finding and implementing innovative and effective ways to help students.”

GRCC faculty, community leaders attend seminar

Holland, MI — The full-time faculty of Grand Rapids Community College are gathered at the Grand Valley State University’s Eberhard Center today for Faculty Learning Day of the Winter 2011 semester. The event includes a number of seminars and activities for the faculty. Among the participants at this event will be guests from Davenport University, The Grand Rapids Public Museum, Kendall College of Art & Design of Ferris State University and Ferris State University, Big Rapids.  (More)

Ice sculpting competition starts Friday

Holland, MI — With chainsaws, chisels, power drills and irons in hand, six collegiate teams will compete in this year’s ice sculpting compeition in downtown Holland. Student Information Station Volunteers Needed

Student Life is looking for volunteers to help staff the Student Information Stations for the start of the Winter 2011 semester- with the greatest need in the ATC. This year the Student Information Stations will be held Monday, January 10, 2011 through Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 7:00am-2:00pm and 5:00pm-7:00pm. Please follow the steps below to register to volunteer.

Click on the link (below) that corresponds with the location you would like to volunteer.  At the bottom of the spreadsheet are the different tabs dates available. Please click on the date you would like to volunteer.  Please put your first and last name, e-mail address and extension next to the time you wish to sign up for. (All volunteer slots are in 1 hour blocks).  You will receive an appointment confirmation from me that will include your time and volunteer location.
