Muskegon Heights native wins award for community contributions

GRAND RAPIDS — A Muskegon Heights native who now works in Grand Rapids has been honored for her contributions to the arts and the West Michigan African-American community. Melita Travis-Johnson, 58, received the Ethel Coe Humanities Award from Grand Rapids Community College as part of the college’s Giants Awards for 12 outstanding members of the African-American community.  (More)
