GRAND RAPIDS — A vintage Airstream trailer, a logo for a church event and a student’s campaign for a three-wheel vehicle were the big winners at the 2011 annual Addy Awards. […] Ryan William Lockwood, a senior at Kendall College of Art and Design, was the big winner with three Addy awards including a gold and student Best of Show for his mixed media campaign for the Aptera, a three-wheel electric car. He was surprised at how well he did his first time entering the competition. “I just thought it would be cool to get professional feedback,” said Lockwood, who is hoping his awards will help him land a job in the advertising industry. I think it’s pretty important,” said Lockwood, 27, who works part-time at Grand Rapids Community College as a graphic designer in communications. (More)

Police: Student taken to ATM, robbed – Ferris student was walking out of GRCC building

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Police are looking for two suspects after they said one approached a Ferris State University-Grand Rapids student Thursday afternoon, asked him for money — and talked him into a car where another man drove the victim to an ATM and the suspects took more money. (More)

GRCC student reports robbery, says he was taken to ATM to withdraw cash

GRAND RAPIDS — A Grand Rapids Community College student reported he was robbed after two men took his money and drove him to an ATM machine to withdraw more. The student, who takes Ferris State University classes at GRCC, told campus police he was approached about 1:15 p.m. near the intersection of Ransom Avenue and Fountain Street NE. by a man in his late 30s, 6 feet tall, chunky build, with stubble on his chin, wearing all black clothing. Feb. 24–BENTON TWP — Kaliee Weberg is growing into her role. The sophomore guard scored a game-high 16 points, including knocking down four 3-pointers, as the Lake Michigan College women’s basketball team defeated Grand Rapids Community College 57-44. (More)
