Free Services From Priority Health (Golf Fitness, Blood Pressure, Shopping Secrets, Fitness, Cholesterol)

Priority Health is offering a number of health-related information sessions to GRCC Employees (you need not be a Priority Health member to participate:

GOLF FITNESS- Length and Strength for a Better Game
This class will give participants a better understanding of what golf fitness is, and the key roles both muscular strength and flexibility play in making you a better golfer. Walk away with golf specific stretches and strength exercises designed to improve your all around game.

Lowering High Blood Pressure –Tuesday, April 19 6-7 p.m.
This class offers tips for getting your blood pressure under control and keeping it there. Learn about blood pressure basics, measuring change and the definition of what’s normal.

Secrets to Smart Shopping –Tuesday, May 10 5:30-7 p.m.
Shopping for healthy, quick, easy and affordable meals doesn’t have to be difficult! Join dietitian Kara Boley, MA, RD, of Priority Health, for an educational session and tour/scavenger hunt at Meijer. Learn about smart choices you can make at the grocery store for nutritious meals that won’t break your budget. We will also discuss the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System, and how it can help to make your shopping easier.

Fitness Fundamentals — Tuesday, May 17 6-7 p.m.
Starting an exercise program for the first time can be intimidating if you’re not sure where to begin. This class will teach you the basics of how often, how long, and how hard you should exercise. Learn the components of fitness to improve your health and help you to look your best!

Cholesterol Counts — Tuesday, May 17 6-7 p.m.
Learn the latest recommendations for healthy cholesterol levels. We will review current guidelines for nutrition and fitness, and learn the important role of stress reduction when striving for a healthy heart.
