Tonight GRCC’s Woodrick Diversity Learning Center presents the final Diversity Lecture of the 2010-2011 academic year, bringing activist, author and sister Lisa Shannon to campus tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Fountain St. Church
Shannon will present “A Thousand Sisters: My Journey into the Worst Place on Earth to Be a Woman” about the atrocities in the Congo, where women are gang-raped and demoralized and decided to become an activist and a sister, leaving behind a successful company, a fiancé and security. She founded Run for Congo Women, a grassroots movement for Congolese women. Shannon chronicled her experiences in A Thousand Sisters: My Journey into the Worst Place on Earth to Be a Woman.
For more information, please call (616) 234-3390. The lecture is free and open to the public and on-campus parking $3.00 (with discount pass).
