GRCC World Quest Team Takes Championship

Congratulations to GRCC’s World Quest Team for taking first place at this year’s competition held at Aquinas College. The team comprised of members of the Social Science Department competed against teams from local colleges, businesses and community organization in answering 100 questions regarding international geography, economics, history, and political science. GRCC also won the event in 2007, and finished second last year.

Tina’s Two Minutes – Week 3

In this video, Tina Hoxie, Dean of Students, gives an update on the GRCC Career Services project that the Keller Futures Center is currently working on. This week, project participants brought back information from interviews with over 450 end users and created needs statements based on their research. Tina encourages faculty and staff to visit the project’s Facebook page to answer three questions related to career development to further aid in this research. Employee Professional Development & Enrichment is offering three Excel Learning Opportunities for intermediate and advanced users during May & June.

Excel: Working with Functions and Formulas
Tuesday, May 24, 2011 1-3 p.m.

This is an advanced class in Excel. Participants must have a working knowledge and feel fairly comfortable in Excel to be prepared for this class. Participants will explore and learn how to use formulas and functions, work with names, ranges, and array formulas.

Excel: Managing Tables
Thursday, June 2, 2011 9-11 a.m.

This is an intermediate class in Excel. Participants must have a working knowledge and feel fairly comfortable in Excel to be prepared for this class. Participants will explore and learn how to work with tables, records, fields and filters. Participants will also learn how to use Excel as a Database.

Excel: Advanced Excel Tasks
Tuesday, June 14, 2011 9-11 a.m.

This is an advanced class in Excel. Participants must have an intermediate level working knowledge in Excel to be prepared for this class. Participants will learn how to create and use shared workbooks, use custom auto fill lists, use the VLOOKUP function. Also included is linking, consolidating and combing workbooks and using macros.
