Purchasing Department Joins Bid4Michigan System
GRCC’s Purchasing department has taken a giant leap in streamlining the process by which the college posts and reviews bids by moving to the Bid4Michigan system.
The State of Michigan’s Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) Purchasing Operations built the system to help the State and public agencies, community colleges, school districts, etc. within the state, establish a centralized location for businesses to bid on projects. Not only does it put thousands of bids all in one place (freeing businesses from having to keep track of dozens of individual systems), it also establishes a centralized database of businesses looking for government contracts.
So far, 17 bids have been posted by GRCC since February of 2011 and a total of 1,389 suppliers have been solicited to date!
In addition to majority-owned businesses, each solicitation makes it easier to solicit bids from groups like:
- Person(s) with Disability Participation Requested
- Service Disabled Veteran Participation Requested
- Small Business Participation Requested
- Minority Business Participation Requested
- Women-Owned Business Participation Requested
