Dave Fortuna passed away on Wednesday. Dave was a custodian for 30 years at GRCC and retired in May. His wife, Lorraine and son Mark are currently custodians at the college.
Funeral services are at Barto & Sons Funeral Home, 1401 Quarry St. NW in Grand Rapids. Visitation is Monday, September 5th from 6-9 PM. A mass will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at 10 AM at St Peter & Paul Church, 520 Myrtle St. N.W., Grand Rapids.
Recently, Workforce Development staff member Elly Bainbridge and her husband Scott were injured in a backyard accident at home. Both are recovering well, but Elly will be in Spectrum Health for a few weeks. Please direct any well wishes to their Carepage at https://www.carepages.com/login?client_code=spectrumhealth

The artifact pictured was found recently in the OLD Admissions office (105 Main). It is being to it’s original owner later today. Beverly Daily says, “We are having great fun with it and thought it might bring a smile/laugh to others around campus.”
Volunteers are needed to help with the 5th Annual GRCC Foundation Fundraiser honoring Peter Wege. The event proceeds will benefit GRCC scholarships.

Where we need you: Parking, Greeters, Coat Check, or Registration.
All volunteer positions will be assigned. Food will be provided to all volunteers in the volunteer break room. Also, each volunteer will be given a polo shirt designed specifically for this years event to be worn that evening.

A Raider Salute to Ed Sosa and those who helped him coordinate the Information Stations this week. It was a big job, but very well organized and appreciated by the students.
Here’s a great way to begin the long holiday weekend with family and friends. Our Raider football team will play a game this Friday 7 PM at Houseman Field against the West Michigan Tigers, one of the teams in the West Michigan Football League. Admission is free to staff and students with valid Raider Card. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
