As you already know, during this past summer GRCC upgraded all computer labs and classrooms to Windows 7. Now it will upgrade the rest of the campus. This winter the IT department will take on the massive endeavor to upgrade every PC on campus to Windows 7.
Windows 7 is a much lighter operating system(OS) and has better features. In addition to what we gain in features, such as security and video playback, the college gains more in support. Support and Drivers for Windows XP has been slipping quickly over the last 2 years.
Keep your eye on GRCC Today during the coming weeks, we will be providing you with required information, and steps you will need to be taking in order to make this a smooth transition.
If you have any questions regarding this process, please email ITHelp@grcc.edu. We will put together an FAQ page to start answering the questions you may have.
It’s is never too late to be innovative.but it will be too late to win big money for your ideas in just 4 more days. Saturday is the deadline for you – or students – to enter their ideas on our parking puzzle.
The question for this year’s Innovation Challenge/Armen Award is: How might GRCC reduce the need for and use of on-campus parking by 50% by 2015?
There is a free Idea Development session today from 3-4 PM with Bill Fluharty, Design and Innovation Consultant from the Keller Future Center and all you have to do is walk in to room 316 Main and you’ll get free professional assistance. And you’ll still get to keep any money if you are the winner of the $3,000 cash. (Second Place is $1,500 and Third Place is $500.)
Also, if you’ll be in a classroom, please encourage students to look into the Innovation Challenge at grcc.edu/Innovationchallenge

Holland — Some of the little touches that add character and retain the history have been left at the old E.E. Fell Junior High School — imperfections in the walls, trim and baseboards in the halls, original rounded windows, staircases and the River Avenue entry. […] Businesses and nonprofits are housed there, including a non-denominational church and classrooms for Grand Rapids Community College. (More)
