GRCC volleyball team reloads despite heavy graduation losses

Chip Will refused to think of the 2011 fall campaign as rebuilding for the Grand Rapids Community College volleyball program. Consider it reloading. The Raiders went from a 35-3 season last fall to a 28-5 record this year despite the loss of eight key players. They also have a legitimate shot at another trip to nationals, which are Nov. 17-19 in Toledo, Ohio.  (More)

GRAND RAPIDS — Yee Lam Fung Nykamp is of Chinese descent but grew up learning the languages of other cultures thanks to her dad’s world-traveling job. She also learned that people don’t just express themselves through words — they also communicate through cuisine. […] Last year, 57 restaurants participated in the event, which generated an estimated $1.2 million in additional sales at area restaurants and raised more than $19,000 to establish a new culinary program scholarship at Grand Rapids Community College’s Secchia Institute for Culinary Education.  (More)
