IT Lunch and Learn Today 11/22/11

On Tuesday, November 22nd, from Noon to 1PM, the IT Department will host a lunch and learn session in the Student Center Multipurpose Room (234 SCC). This session will inform GRCC employees about the Windows 7 / Office 2010 upgrade for faculty and staff, which will begin in January 2012. This session will include a 15-minute presentation about what to expect with the upgrade followed by 45 minutes of questions and answers with the project team.

Please bring your appetite! We’ll have Subway sandwiches, chips, cookies, and drinks for the first 50 people who attend.

Lakisha BeckGRCC ESPs would like to welcome Lakisha Beck to the college.  Lakisha Danielle Beck is the new Graduation Audit Specialist in the Student Records Office. From 2004-2007 Lakisha was a student worker in the Student Records Office and then she returned in 2010 as contingency employee. She has four children, three boys and one girl, and in her spare time she enjoys singing and dancing with her family. Lakisha plans to continue her education at Ferris State University with a degree in Business Administration (BA).  Please welcome Lakisha!

Michigan Football Notes: Demar Dorsey

Back in the recruiting picture is 5-Star cornerback Demar Dorsey. It’s a long shot at best, but the former Michigan commit is trying to turn his life around on two fronts. A speedster from Fort Lauderdale, Dorcey signed a letter of intent in February 2010. Michigan never disclosed its reasons, but Dorsey wasn’t admitted to the university. At Toledo, Ohio, the Raiders split their two matches in first-day action of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II tournament. GRCC,  seeded 10th in the tournament, defeated seventh-seeded Illinois Central 27-25, 22-25, 25-15, 16-25, 15-12, but lost later to second-seeded Oakland 25-18, 25-22, 27-29, 26-24. The unranked Schoolcraft College women’s basketball team extended its NJCAA record home court winning streak to 65 in a row with a 91-78 triumph Wednesday night over Grand Rapids Community College. Grand Rapids (2-2) would get no closer than nine the rest of the way. The Raiders shot 51.8 percent from the floor and committed 39 turnovers on the night.
