Windows 7 Upgrade Information and Walk-in Session Times

The goal of the IT Department is to get all computers on campus upgraded to Windows 7 before April 1st, 2012. During this upgrade, we’ll be working with departments to set up appointments to upgrade computers. Before the appointments, we‘ll supply each employee with a list of software that is currently installed on their system. A check list and instructions will be provided to help with prepping computers to make them ready for the upgrade. If employees need CDs to back up personal data, they may request those through IT Customer Support.

To set up your departments’ Windows 7 upgrade, please call the IT Customer Support Desk at 234-HELP (4357). Department upgrades may be scheduled in part or as a whole. We are limiting the number of upgrades to ten computers per appointment.

In addition to setting up departmental upgrades, we’re holding walk-in sessions for those with laptops and tablets only. Those with older computers should receive an email requesting their computer preference to replace their current system.

To have your system upgraded during one of these walk-in sessions, please contact the IT Customer Support Desk at 234-4357 or ITHelp@grcc.edu. Each walk-in session will be limited to 12 seats so be sure to sign up early as these will fill quickly!

The walk-in sessions are being held in the Learning Resource Center in room 132. The times and dates available are as follows:

  • Thursday, January 19th 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 24th 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Friday, January 21st 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Monday, January 30th 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 1st 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 2nd 4:00 p.m. – Next Day Pickup
  • Wednesday, February 8th 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Friday, February 10th 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, February 14th 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 16th 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 18th 9:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Monday, February 20th 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 22nd 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Friday, February 24th 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, February 28th 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Each system will take approximately 3 – 4 hours to upgrade, so please plan accordingly.

Please note, if you have received an email from IT indicating that you will be receiving a new computer soon, you will not need to participate in the upgrade clinic.
