Thanks from DLIT

Thank you also to Gary Ebels for being the host of the session.

There were many conversations related to iPads and some of the apps that are being used for productivity, for learning, and for teaching. Campus Dining Congratulates Stella, new U.S. Citizen

Keaton T. Krupa, Service Manager for Campus Dining, reports that Liu Shu-Chuan, better known by her loyal customers at The Raider Grille as “Stella,” became an official American Citizen yesterday. Stella arrived in the US from Taiwan in 1989. Stella says that the most touching part of her ceremony was when the judge told the new citizens that America was such a great country because of the contribution of its immigrants, each bringing a bit of their own culture to share. Stella is most excited that she will now be able to vote. She plays such a vital roll in the Campus Dining team everyday, bringing her impeccable skills and very high energy!

Student Satisfaction Fair - 01-18-12

Yesterday in the Raider Grille, GRCC held a “Student Satisfaction Fair” and invited students to submit their thoughts on how well the college is doing at meeting their needs, as well as offer suggestions on new services or improvements.  As an enticement, any student who participated was entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card to the bookstore.

GRCC Culinary Student in Prestigious S. Pellegrino Collegiate Hot Food Competition

This week, Sasha Ahmed, GRCC’s team culinary coach, (who took our team to first place last spring in Boyne even above the professionals) took one of our student culinary team memebers, Derek Warren, to Chicago for the S. Pellegrino collegiate hot food competition.  The competition is an invitation-only affair and was earned as a result of GRCC’s fantastic reputation.  A win here could send the team to the National Finals in Las Vegas.

The competition is being held at Kendal Culinary College in Chicago. Derek will be featuring his families blueberries from their blueberry farm here in Michigan as well as featuring his lamb dish. In two hours he must present eight perfect and identical plates from scratch.  More information available here.
