This morning GRCC President Dr. Steven Ender met with a standing room only crowd in the ATC to give employees updates on the Bond proposal that will appear on the ballot in next week’s election. In addition to his optimism about the campaign, he also had some wonderful personal news to share: he has a new granddaughter!
Active Commute Week West Michigan is coming up May 14-18, 2012 and GRCC is participating!
What is Active Commute Week? It’s your chance to join with many other local business and colleges in reducing our carbon footprint and riding the bus, walking, riding your bike or longboarding to work!
GRCC is also participating in the local Active Commute Week Challenge for businesses and individuals to track their commutes to and from work to compete for daily prizes ($100.00 Meijer Gift Cards – not too bad!).
National Bike to Work Day is on Friday May 18 and from 7:00-9:00 am there will be rally stops on your way in – one even being in front of Sneden Hall on our DeVos Campus. Mayor George Hartwell will be stopping by our GRCC rally point around 7:30 if anyone want’s to say hello!
Later that evening from 4:30-7:30 there will be Active Commute Today LIVE at the Rapid Central Station with live bands, food, minor bike tune ups and the Active Commute Week Challenge awards.

That desire is one of the reasons the Forest Hills Eastern senior is this year’s recipient of the prestigious Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship.
