GRCC hosted the second annual School of Workforce Development Occupational Advisory Committee luncheon to celebrate committee members’ contributions to program and curriculum improvement at GRCC for our occupational programs. Dr. Ender and Dave Muir, President of Paragon Die and Engineering, spoke and showcased the new AMP program (Advanced Manufacturing Program).

Active Commute Week – 5/14/12-5/18/12
Staff Development is encouraging staff and students to participate in Active Commute Week – leave the car at home and Ride the Rapid, bike, roller blade or long board into GRCC! The Active Commute Week Challenge is a weeklong competition for businesses and individuals in Greater Grand Rapids from Monday, May 14 to Friday, May 18 at noon.
Challenge participants include: Amway, Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Grand Valley State University, Meijer, Metro Health, Priority Health, Steelcase, and West Michigan Bike and Fitness.
Commuters track online how often they commute to and from work using active transportation:
- cycling
- walking (including running, wheelchair, skating, boarding)
- riding the bus
- carpooling and vanpooling
Please join us in the Multi-Purpose Room (Room 108) in Sneden Hall on Tuesday May 15, 2012 from 10:30AM-12:00 PM. No pre-registration necessary. Officer Tony Myers will teach basic bike safety to keep you safe on the roads while commuting to work!

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — For the third time since 2007, West Michigan voters have defeated a bond proposal for Grand Rapids Community College. The latest loss came Tuesday night, when voters resoundingly defeated a $98.6 million proposal that would have been used to upgrade GRCC’s technology and renovate its aging buildings. (More)

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Supporters of Grand Rapids Community College’s $98.6 million bond proposal have conceded defeat. The results cap off what has been a hard fought election on GRCC’s behalf. Voter turnout for Grand Rapids Community College bond looks low across Kent County

KENT COUNTY, MI – Voter turnout appears to be “very, very light” across Kent County this morning, according to several city clerks. Through the first four-and-a-half hours of polling in Cedar Springs, for example, 26 people had voted. (More)
