Dr. Robin Connell, jazz pianist and adjunct music faculty at GRCC, will perform with world-renowned jazz bassist, Matt Brewer in Grand Rapids this week. Mr. Brewer resides in New York City and is featured on dozens of recordings including two on the Blue Note label. He tours world wide with artists such as Lee Konitz, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, David Sanchez, Steve Coleman, Terence Blanchard, and Jeff “Tain” Watts. Joining Matt and Robin onstage are drummer, Randy Marsh, and Matt’s father, Dr. Paul Brewer (Aquinas College, Director of Instrumental Music).

GRCC overcomes long odds to claim regional baseball title

BATTLE CREEK, MI – Grand Rapids Community College came out of the loser’s bracket and won twice Monday to claim the NJCAA Region XII title. The Raiders, 39-22, defeated No. 3 seed Macomb Community College 13-0 to force a second game, and then earned the title with a 6-5 victory in 10 innings. (More)
