The Importance of Wellness – Obesity Rates in Michigan Over 30 Percent

We all need to take care of our health. Are you at risk for Heart Disease, stroke, Type 2 Diabetes? Are you physically active everyday? Adults need 30-60 minutes of physical activity daily. Children need 60 minutes of physical activity.

Are you eating correctly? Do you smoke?

Michigan has over 30% of its adult population that is obese according to the new reports from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).

The purpose of the PE/Wellness Department at GRCC is to continue to educate on the importance of physical activity, how to complete that physical activity with correct form, and also to teach how to improve your health and prevent diseases like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancers related to obesity. The job of the PE/Wellness Department is to educate and prevent unhealthy choices.

We also need to let go of stress, sleep more, and eat a healthy diet.  Take action and stop smoking, eat a nutritious diet, and become physically active!
