Dr. Ender surprised the campus by delivering the opening remarks for the semester despite a recent hospitalization. GRCC’s finest were honored with the “Excellence in Education” award: Diane Sparks of the Faculty and Mike Kidder of the Staff (more details and photos tomorrow).
Staff and faculty at the Tassell M-TEC hosted a community open house on Tuesday, August 21 in celebration of the facility’s 10th Anniversary and the 40th Year celebration of GRCC’s Job Training Program. Attendees from the community included educators, employers, alumni and GRCC faculty and staff. A brief program included remarks from Tassell M-TEC director George Waite, alumni and current students sharing their own GRCC story.
GRCC’s intrepid Media Technologies department put together this excellent historical retrospective of the M-TEC and our various workforce development programs offered there (which are themselves celebrating a 40th anniversary):
The Center for Teaching Excellence is the faculty professional development hub for Distance Learning and Instructional Technologies, the Department of Experiential Learning, the Library & Learning Commons and other faculty offerings for full- and part-time faculty at GRCC and, where applicable, from other institutions of Higher Education. We are located on the main campus in 310 Main, offering professional development all throughout GRCC campuses.

To my friends at GRCC:
Some of you know that I planned upon retiring in December of this year. Some very good things have occurred in my life that changed that time table. We very quickly sold our house in GR and bought a lake house in North Carolina. So, I am retired as of today.
In my 28 years here, I have made many wonderful friends that I will both miss and remember always. This has been a wonderful place to work largely because of the great people who work here.
I will miss you.
