Wellness Instructor Presents at Teacher Appreciation Day

On Friday, August 24th, Melanie Schiele-Gady was asked to present to Byron Center Public Schools Staff and Teachers about the importance of taking care of your health, fitness, and total well-being. This was a Teacher Appreciation/Professional Development Day for Byron Center Public Schools.

“I am honored that they asked me to present, this was a great community outreach opportunity,” says Melanie.

“My presentation was partnered with a another teacher from Rockford where he shared his story of weight loss but more scary how he almost lost his life to heart disease. I then followed him with a lecture on:

  1. Total Health and Wellness
  2. The NEW report from the CDC
  3. Sample work out program while you are at work (work out for you and your students)
  4. Sample Yoga Work out

The whole lecture is about taking care of yourself so you can take care of your students in your classroom. Also, that we need to take care of ourselves so we can give 100% to others!”

The Humane Society of West Michigan announced recently it had received a $20,000 grant from Petfinder Foundation’s Rescue U for renovations. HSWM has had student volunteers from Grand Valley State University, Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, Grand Rapids Community College and Kettering University (in Flint) at its facility all week to perform the renovations.  (More)
