Grand Rapids Community College’s Secchia Institute for Culinary Education (SICE) unveiled the newly built Pietro and Regina Amphitheater, located inside the Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center (ATC), Thursday, September 27.
GRCC officials and SICE faculty were joined by donors for the announcement and were given a first look at the amphitheater, which will be used for teaching, cooking demonstrations and special events.
“The addition of this facility will enrich the teaching and learning experience for our culinary students,” said GRCC President Dr. Steven C. Ender. “Further, the amphitheater will allow us to expand the programs we offer to people in the West Michigan community, which continues to be an important goal for us.”
The 54-seat amphitheater was constructed during the summer months and the $765,000 it cost to build was funded through private donations. It includes three 60-inch video monitors, which will allow students to have an up-close view of their instructors as they prepare the food and present their lesson plans.
