‘Make the Yuletide Gay-(er)’ to benefit scholarship funds

'Make the Yuletide Gay-(er),' 7 p.m. Dec. 16, Spectrum TheatreGRCC and Actors Theatre are teaming up on “Make the Yuletide Gay-(er),” an “old-fashioned holiday variety special,” to benefit the Combined Theatre Scholarship Fund, the Fred and Mickey Sebulske Scholarship Fund and the GRCC Alumni Scholarship Fund.

The show starts 7 p.m. December 16, 2012, at Spectrum Theatre. It’s hosted by Ellie Frances and Rob Karel and features Craig Hammerlind, Matt Tepper. Lynne Tepper, Neil Trevisan, the GRCC Madrigal Singers, and a collection of past and present vocal students.

If you mention or enter the code “YULEMETWICE” when ordering adult tickets at 234.3946, they cost $12 instead of $14. Tickets for GRCC students are $5 and $8 for other students. For more information, click here.

Pre-Semester Drop-Ins at the Center for Teaching Excellence

On Faculty Prep Day (January 11), our DLIT Staff will be available from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM in Main 347 and 351 for DLIT Drop-Ins. If you have questions about Blackboard or any of our other instructional technologies as you prepare for Winter, stop by. We will also be doing CTE Drop-Ins at the same time in 310 and 316 Main. If you have questions about syllabi, assignments, lectures, activities, etc., we would love to sit down and work with you on them.

Why Grand Rapids Community College is considering differential tuition rates for some students

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Administrators at Grand Rapids Community College are pushing a proposal that would reduce tuition for some high school students dual enrolled at the college.
Under the proposal, unveiled by President Steven Ender Tuesday night, the college could charge dual enrolled students who take GRCC classes at their high school a different rate than dual enrolled students who take GRCC classes at the college.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Grand Rapids Community College students are taking more classes in manufacturing and physical sciences, but are less interested in criminal justice, child development and wellness.
That’s according to the colleges fall 2012 enrollment report, which breaks down enrollment trends by credit hours within GRCC’s 26 academic departments.

GRCC Online Store to host sale on December 13, 2012

Computers, electronics and books are among the items that GRCC will sell online to the public from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. December 13, 2012.

Purchased items must be removed from the college campus within two weeks from the sale date of sale. Any purchased items that aren’t picked up by then will be returned to stock. Items will be available for pickup from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. December 14 at the college, 133 Winchester Place NE. After December 14, pickup will be only by appointment. Advanced Manufacturing series starts soon

Find out about lean manufacturing, statistical process control and manufacturing terminology in Workforce Training’s Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing series.

The classes, which start December 18, 2012, are designed for those in entry-level positions, operators, supervisors, inspectors, leads and support personnel — anyone, in fact, who wants to increase his or her knowledge of manufacturing production process tools.
