GRCC, GVSU collaborate at Living Well Grand Rapids event

GRCC’s Wellness Department and GVSU Campus Recreation will collaborate on hosting a booth and exercise classes at the Living Well Grand Rapids event on January 11 and 12, 2013, at DeVos Place.

Networks Matter 2.0 provides tools for stronger professional relationships

Networks Matter 2.0 provides the tools to build stronger professional relationships through communication, social networking and technology, and it also helps develop a strategy for developing a professional network. If you sign up for the entire four-session series, you will receive two hours of personal and professional coaching.

The workshops are designed to help those wanting to advance professionally, the unemployed or under-employed, and people with low to moderate technology skills. The sessions feature group meetings, presentations, online activities and attendance at community events.

Classes run 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, starting February 12, 2013, at Leslie E. Tassell M-TEC. They cost $155 for the entire series or

GMail discussion sessions set for January 2013

Join us for a lively GMail discussion! We need your input to ensure a smooth transition as we look toward a migration from GroupWise to GMail.

A critical piece in this process is understanding and documenting how you use GroupWise. Your input is critical to us to identify comparable solutions in GMail to satisfy your business process needs. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable with this transition and to ensure that you have the tools you need moving forward.

Discussion sessions are scheduled for:

  • 10:30-11:30 a.m. January 3, 2013.
  • 9-10 a.m. January 7.

First Aid/CPR Initial Certification course starts January 21, 2013

GRCC’s First Aid/CPR Initial Certification, targeted to those in the construction trades industry, starts on January 21, 2013.

This course covers primary assessment, heart problems, fractures, wounds and bandaging, stroke and shock management, eye injury, dislocation and splinting, obstructed airways, exposure to cold, control of bleeding, electrical injuries, back, head and neck injuries, epileptic seizures, and one-rescuer CPR. Sessions are scheduled for 6-10 p.m. January 21 and 28 at the Leslie E. Tassell M-TEC. The cost is $60. To register, click here.

After completion, you will be certified in First Aid/CPR and will receive an official card. Initial certification expires two years after completion. To maintain certification, you must then take a recertification class. The next session is set for 6-10 p.m. January 17 at Tassell M-TEC for $50. To register, click here.
