What West Michigan educators are saying about Gov. Rick Snyder’s budget proposal

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Educators in West Michigan said Gov. Rick Snyder’s proposed budget increase for K-12 education and public universities is a step in the right direction, although one administrator believes a larger investment is needed to offset years of cuts.
… Community colleges also are in line for a 2 percent increase.
“Overall, we’re pleased,” said Lisa Freiburger, vice president for finance and administration at Grand Rapids Community College. “We’re pleased to see that the governor sees the critical role that community colleges play in providing affordable higher ed options.”
Faculty at GRCC launch chapter of national German honor society

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Faculty at Grand Rapids Community College are starting a chapter of a national German honor society, a project aimed at helping students improve their language skills and participate in community service projects.
