Caregiving 101 to be offered March 9, 2013

The Certificate in Aging is a noncredit continuing education program designed for health-care professionals and others working with older adults, who are interested in learning how to be more effective in working with this population.

This certificate program consists of eight-hour classroom-based courses held on Saturdays through April 27, 2013:

  • Caregiving 101: Caregiving for Real Life runs 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 9.
  • Healthy Aging and Chronic Disease Management runs 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 13.
  • Death, Dying, and Bereavement runs 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 27.

Contact hours will be granted for participation in each of the courses in this program.

College Students Dedicate Spring Break To Rebuilding The Jersey Shore

Grand Rapids taco shop owner surprised to see property on demolition list

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The owner of a popular taco shop in the Roosevelt Park neighborhood expressed surprise to learn his business was included on a list of properties being eyed for demolition by a nonprofit housing developer.

Farrakhan: Whites Promote Birth Control For Black Women Because They Fear Being Minorities

Eagles sweep pair from Grand Rapids in walk-off fashion

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 4, 2013) — John Price, Jr.’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh scored Clay Fenwick and gave FCSAA No. 4 Tallahassee Community College a 6-5 walk-off win over Grand Rapids (Mich.) Community College in game two of a doubleheader at Eagle Field on Monday afternoon.

KCC hoops programs in playoffs Tuesday

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Kellogg Community College will try to continue their seasons on Tuesday and make a run in the NJCAA Division II Tournament.

… KCC (9-19) lost both games against Lansing CC (17-11) this season, each by five points. The winner will play the victor of Lake Michigan College vs. Grand Rapids CC on Friday, 5:30 p.m. at tournament host Delta College.

We are pleased to announce the following management team updates at the Grand Rapids Community College Bookstore!

Please join us in welcoming new Bookstore Manager and GRCC alumnus, Scott Peters. Scott comes to us with a strong background in retail management and the book industry, holding previous roles at Random House Publishing as well as independent and “big-box” bookstores. He has an AA from Grand Rapids Community College and a BA in Communications from Michigan State University.

In addition, please congratulate former Assistant Store Manager Jennifer Rockafellow on her new position as Course Materials Manager. Jennifer has worked at the Grand Rapids Community College Bookstore for two years, and prior to that served in various roles at Michigan State University Bookstores.  She has a BA in Business Administration from the University of Northwestern Ohio.

Both Jennifer and Scott started their new positions in February. As we approach buyback season and summer term, we encourage all GRCC students, faculty and staff to call or visit the bookstore for any course materials questions or needs.
