“Quiet, The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking”
Susan Cain – Author, Lecturer
Susan Cain is a former corporate lawyer and negotiations consultant and a self-described introvert. Her book has sparked a genuine national conversation about introverts. Although our culture undervalues them dramatically, introverts have made some of the great contributions to society from Chopin’s nocturnes to the invention of the personal computer to Gandhi’s transformative leadership. Based on intensive research in psychology and neurobiology, Cain argues that we design our schools, workplaces, and religious institutions for extroverts, and that this bias creates a waste of talent, energy, and happiness.

GRCC Christian Fellowship members spend spring break rebuilding Jersey Shore
A group of students from the GRCC Christian Fellowship, accompanied by campus Chaplain Harry Lew and Music Professor Grace Schwanda, are spending their spring break helping to rebuild the New Jersey Shore after Superstorm Sandy decimated the beach and homes in Ortley Beach and other shore communities in October. The students departed Grand Rapids in two vans on Friday, March 1, and began working on Saturday. They will be there through Thursday, take a one-day trip to New York City, and then head back to Grand Rapids on Saturday in time to be back to classes on Monday.
Courtesy of Jersey-rooted friends, the group enjoyed real New Jersey Pizza between planting grass on the sand dunes and helping to repair severely damaged homes. Contributions toward the cost of the trip are welcome through Monday, March 11. If interested, please contact Penni Weninger at pweninger@grcc.edu or 616-234-4547.
